LETTER FROM A CRIMINAL ATTORNEY—EXACTLY WHAT IS NEEDED - Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD responds to a criminal attorney (2/11/01)

 Hello Dr. Baughman,

 I am a lawyer with over 30 years of courtroom experience in ….. I am
 doing research for a Law Review article which has as it 's theme the
 governments zero tolerance policy for possession of schedule II type
 drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine, methylphenidate et.al. and harsh
 prison sentences for their violation!

 This war on drugs is costing Americans 50 billion dollars per year. At
 the same time the government through NIMH, NIH, FDA and other agencies

Add the CDC, Surgeon General, Congress, Senate, White House]

 are funding( to the tune of many millions of $'s) research to prove
 that giving young children these same kinds of drugs is 'safe
 and effective'.

Uncle Sam gives out the drugs with one hand, even
forces them on children, then nabs them as adolescents and adults with the
other, locks them up and throws away the key. Almost no psychiatric
research is true science. Most of it is the willful perversion of science.
Most of the conclusions are foreordained, always holding that the DSM
disorder is a real disease, and that the drug in question is ‘safe and
effective.’ And the FDA is right there to rubber stamp it all]

 I have reviewed two recent studies by Nadine Lambert at the Dept of
 Education of UC Berkeley.  She has demonstrated a link between ADHD
 kids drugged with methylphenidate and other stimulants and a 2.3 times
 increase to become dependent on cocaine as adults. I have the studies
 and will send them if you would like to read them

Lambert was among the few real scientists at the NIH
Consensus Conference, 11/16-18/98. Her ongoing study is the biggest and most
credible by far. Alan Leshner, head of NIDA had the gall to say ADHD is a risk
factor—predisposes to addiction (it is an absolute scientific lie to say it has
ever been validated as a disease, much less a disease that constitutes a
predisposition to addiction). Since the Consensus Conference, Biederman and
others rushed into the journals they control with short-term studies that would
have us believe that taking these addictive drugs protects against addiction. It
is about as duplicitous and evil as can be]

 . I'm trying to show the insane circularity of the war on drugs with
 the government actually contributing to the increase in illicit drug
 abuse by allowing children to be given these Sched II stimulants in
 the name of treatment.

Absolutely no doubt about it—but one correction—the
government through the US Dept. of Education and every last public school and
teacher is forcing these labels on the normal children and forcing the dangerous,
addictive, sometimes deadly drugs down their throats, every time calling it ‘safe
and effective’ and absolutely necessary (see story of Tammy Kubiac) ]

 I have read a number of articles by Biederman, Mick, Wilens and Faraone
 from Harvard. I also noted in your web site that Biederman and Wilens
 were on the medical advisory board of C.H.A.D.D. I found this very
 interesting. I wonder if you have any other similar data showing that
 these Harvard boys are tied into the drug companies or the lobby effort
 for Ritalin and other stimulant drugs?

80% of all of this research is drug company supported. Drug dollars
are everywhere in the process, and the amounts can be astronomical as with the
few researchers who have been ‘outed.’ Joseph Biederman is shameless; there is
not a behavior he will not call a disease.]

 Were it not for Biederman et. al. have published on the effects of
 stimulants on ADHD kids and have concluded that they are 'protected'
 against substance abuse because of their legal drugging. Am I on the
 right track?

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
You are on the right track if you understand that no minuscule part of
their claims of ‘disease’ is true, that, as I testified at the NIH Consensus
Conference on ADHD 11/17/98, that ADHD (and all psychiatric disorders as
diseases) is a total, 100 % fraud. So few people get it. I have been in touch
with the law firms behind the class action Ritalin suit and I am not sure that
they get it yet. My role with them, if any, is yet to be clarified. By the way,
my appearance at the Consensus Conference was deleted from the conference video.

 Do you have any information, articles in the literature or advice for me?

I have no doubt that the NIMH authors the fraud of calling these things (all
childhood psychiatric disorders) diseases, and each and every new drug/compound
‘safe and effective treatment.’ CHADD invented by the manufacturer of Ritalin
for Ritalin, pushes ADHD as a disease, and makes much of the fact that they
haven’t, in the past, advertised Ritalin direct to the public. I don’t know
about Ritalin today but most of the other amphetamines pushed for this invented
disease are now vigorously marketed direct to the public. I am convinced that
the CHADD professional advisory board is dominated at all times by the NIMH and
that just as they author the fraud at the NIMH, many of those same authors, on
the PAB, orchestrate it’s dissemination and author the final message to be put
out to the public. I am amazed that ‘HAAVAAD’ allows this operation under it’s
roof but then it is the same in all US medical schools—it is not just psychiatry
that is pharm-dominated, it is all who are medical academia. See

 speaking out against the enormous harm from Ritalin type drugs being given
