Thank you for the messages, please keep me on this email list. I am student
teaching high school math in two major schools in Rochester, NY because I was
so open about change in my adolescent education classes. When special ed
students come to my classes, I plan to tutor them myself rather than send
them to Resource rooms staffed by teachers aides who only have high school
diplomas. I worked 226 full days in special ed rooms and the use of Ritalin is
common. The teachers send home notes to parents and ask for an increase in
dosage if the kid causes them problems. Then they wonder why Regular Ed
teachers don't get along with Special Ed in NY. They talk of forcing us to
take Special Ed courses but most Regular Ed teachers would not go. I will
soon be done with my Masters and I plan to tell Special Ed teachers how it's
going to be, not the other way around.
