  I know my father's schitzophrenia needed medication.  I also know
  that at the end at age 40 the medications contributed to the
  deteoriated mental state where he hung himself from the door w/ his
  belt.  My son age 8 has been diagnosed w/ add.  I know the 18 mg of
  concerta is having side effects.  I also know that this child who
  slaps himself in the face and calls himself a failure, and stupid has
  no future w/ such low self esteem

There is no fake, fraudulent 'brain damage' diagnosis that does
not make self esteem and self image worse, and there is no drug given
a child that does not reinforce the self-image that he/she is
'brain-diseased.' When the parent is among those accepting the
'disease' label and participating in the drugging, how can the child
sustain the beliefs: "I am normal, my brain is normal, I can control
myself without drugs."] .

  I also know I will not drug him every day for the rest of his life.

If he has no actual disease, verifiable with objective evidence,
one day of drugging your normal child is one day too many.]

  My point.  I know that there is something terribly out of kilter w/ my
  child and was w/ my father and that to hell with the god dam naming of
  it.  I think perhaps you are a fraud w/ alterior motives who ought be
  called up before the medical associations to so quickly deny the
  terrible pain that those afficted w/ mental disturbances suffer and to
  want to destroy those in the psychiatric and support community who want
  to help.

I am sorry for your suffering and confusion and that of other
members of your family. A big part of your confusion, L, has to
do with the deceptions of the psychiatric/pharmaceutical cartel, that
tells parents, patients, and the public at large that all things
emotional and behavioral are diseases due to chemical imbalances of the
brain for one reason and one reason only--so they can sell 'chemical
balancers' --pills. Psychiatry is an anomalous branch of medicine in
that it does not diagnose or treat organic diseases at all, it only
claims that it does. I urge you to read my web site closely for I
write of solutions for parents and children like you and your son.
