Please, Norah, understand that no psychiatric/psychological diagnosis is an
actual disease, that the behaviors and feelings you have can be overcome
with common sense, committment and work. If you cannot find a non-labeling,
non-drugging mental health professional you may have to go to some other
sort of advisor/counselor or turn to loved ones. FB]

I'm a 46-year-old woman who has always had trouble making friends.
I was overprotected quite a bit as a child, and was an only child. I was
also socially inept. I became convinced that no one liked me. For the last
2 years I have been obsessed with Asperger's Syndrome, feeling that I have
it. I've been to 5 psychiatrists/psychologists about it , but none of them
feel I have it--they say I have social phobia instead, and avoidant
personality disorder. I do avoid most social situations now due to fear.

How can I get over my fear and obsession with Asperger's Syndrome?
