I am e-mailing you to ask you a couple questions regarding ADHD. How do
you tell if a child has ADHD?

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
The behaviors appearing on ADHD
behavioral checklists, are normal behaviors in normal, troubled,
mis-parented, mis-educated children. For any medical organization or
practitioner to represent that ADHD is a disease and that children said to
have it are abnormal, diseased, is a perversion of science and medicine, a
lie, and a violation of your informed consent rights. I will put you in
touch with persons in Canada, fighting this psychiatric fraud (see CCs)]

What can I as a parent do? Is there any cure for ADHD? The reason for these
questions is I have a 8 yr. old son who is having lots of difficulty at
school. (child) is in grade 3 and his teacher said he is at grade 1-2 level

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
Not all children learn at the same rate. In early elementary school,
learning to read is the most important, essential of skills. Both in the US
and Canada, our normal children are give 'whole language'--'look-say', as a
means of learning to read. It is not! It is a barrier to learning to read,
to literacy. Only with phonics--learning letter sounds and sounding out
syllables and words, does one become truly literate, a truly fluent reader.
Children who lag in reading lag in every subject with a book to read and
become increasingly unhappy in school. This is where ADHD behaviors come
from in the vast majority of cases, and no pill in the world can cure it.
Get 'Hooked on Phonics' , 'ABC the Phonics Game' or get him tutoring with a
tutor he likes who uses phonics and you will see his reading improve and his
'ADHD' melt away]

The school wants him to have a test done on him. I went to
our family doctor and she mentioned, did the school suggest ADHD. I said no.
I am really worried.

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
Follow the above advice, do not allow testing for ADHD
or any psychiatric disease--none of which are diseases. If trouble persists
in the public/government school, consider a private or parochial school that
you have determined knows that psychology and psychiatry do not an education
make!]

We live in Hamilton, Ontario. Canada. I would really like for you to
answer my e-mail when you get a chance. Is there any other web sites that
can help find out more information? Thank-you very much in advanced. Have a
great day!! M.B.

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
Write or call me should their be further problems.]
