We have a 16 year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD many years

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
never proved to be an actual disease, meaning your son,
with this the only dx., has never been proved to be abnormal. No doubt he
and family have been led to believe he is brain-abnormal,

He has been on and off medication(aderol, ritlan) for approx. 5 years.

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
these are amphetamines, amphetamine-like, addictive dangerous,
caused 186 (FDA-reported) deaths, 1990-2000.]

We do not wish to give him the medication, but he has not been able to
    succeed in school without it

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
this is powerful belief in
"disease" belief that he is not normal, cannot function without drugs.
must be overcome and meds should be stopped due to accumulative risks, but
weaned with assistance of a physician ]

We are unsure what course we need to take. Can
you offer any advise on how we can help him succeed in school without

[Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD:
I would try contract educators--Sylvan, Huntington,
Score, Linda-Mood while never going bact to the belief your sone has a
disease needing "treatment" Contact me direct should this become a legal
matter. ]
